Meghalaya Youth Secure National Platform at Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue
In a significant stride towards fostering youth leadership, 25 young individuals from Meghalaya have been selected to participate in the National Youth Festival's Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue (VBYLD) 2026. This prestigious event, scheduled from January 9 to 12 in New Delhi, aims to empower young minds and provide a platform for constructive idea-sharing.
The Power of Leadership
Addressing the Meghalaya delegates, the Governor of Meghalaya, CH. Vijayashankar, emphasized that leadership is not merely a title or position, but a responsibility rooted in character, quality, and service to society. He urged the youth to embody these qualities and make meaningful use of the national platform to present ideas that contribute positively to the vision of a Viksit Bharat.
Innovation and Achievement
Two students from the National Institute of Technology, Shillong, Nishant Kumar Singh and Necharika Singh, have secured representation in the Viksit Bharat Design for Bharat track. Their innovative Smart Braille Watch, an assistive wearable device for visually impaired individuals, focuses on affordability, portability, and ease of use, addressing limitations associated with existing Braille devices.
Cultural Representation
Meghalaya's cultural heritage will be showcased through 23 youth artists who will present traditional folk songs and dances, while three youth will compete in declamation, poetry, and painting events. These participants were selected from among 1,000 youth who took part in the State-level Chief Minister's Youth Engagement Programme.
