NCC's Combined Annual Training Camp Empowers Youth in Arunachal Pradesh

Empowering the Youth: NCC's Combined Annual Training Camp in Arunachal Pradesh

The recent Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC-157) held by the 1 Arunachal Pradesh Battalion of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) at Dera Natung Government College (DNGC) in Itanagar, showcases a significant effort towards nurturing responsible, disciplined, and socially committed youth in North East India.

Building a Foundation of Discipline and Unity

The 10-day camp, which took place from January 5 to 14, is designed to introduce NCC cadets to structured camp life and instill core values such as unity, discipline, national integration, and community living. The training schedule emphasizes collective living, shared responsibilities, and mutual respect.

Military Training and Holistic Development

The training programme focuses on basic military training, including physical training, field craft and battle craft, and small arms firing. In addition, the camp encourages the holistic development of the cadets through games, cultural activities, and personality development sessions.

Disaster Management and Response Training

A unique aspect of this year's camp is the inclusion of disaster management and response training under the Yuva Aapda Mitra (YAM) scheme. This initiative, led by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), aims to equip NCC cadets with essential skills in basic relief, rescue, and emergency response.

Preparing for Future Leadership

The camp also includes training in self-defence, unarmed combat, and preparatory sessions for competitive examinations aimed at joining the Indian armed forces and civil services. Guest lectures by distinguished personalities are organized to motivate cadets and guide them in choosing suitable career paths.

Implications for North East India and Beyond

The CATC-157 serves as a valuable platform for nurturing future leaders in North East India, instilling a sense of national pride and responsibility among its participants. The skills acquired during the camp, particularly those related to disaster management, are essential for the region's preparedness in the face of natural disasters.

Looking Ahead

As the camp draws to a close, it is essential to acknowledge the importance of continued investment in youth development programs like the CATC-157. By fostering a new generation of responsible, disciplined, and socially committed youth, we are not only ensuring a more secure and resilient future for our region but also contributing to a stronger, more united India.
