- Building a future-ready workforce
Meghalaya's Contribution to the National Dialogue
Among the participants, two students from the National Institute of Technology, Shillong, Nishant Kumar Singh and Neeharika Singh, have been selected at the national level for their innovation, a Smart Braille Watch. This assistive wearable device enables visually impaired individuals to access time and notifications through tactile Braille output, focusing on affordability, portability, and ease of use.
In addition to the Smart Braille Watch, 23 youth artists from Meghalaya will represent the state in traditional folk song and dance at the national level, while three youth will participate in declamation, poetry, and painting competitions.
Empowering the Youth of Northeast India
The participation of Meghalaya's youth in the VBYLD 2026 is significant for the Northeast region, as it provides a platform for young leaders to showcase their talents, engage in meaningful discussions, and connect with fellow youth from across the country.
The North East region, with its rich cultural diversity and unique challenges, stands to benefit immensely from such opportunities. By participating in events like the VBYLD 2026, young leaders from the region can share their perspectives, learn from others, and contribute to the nation's development in a meaningful way.
Looking Ahead: The Future of Youth Leadership
As the Meghalaya contingent prepares to depart for New Delhi, the anticipation is palpable. The four-day event promises to be a transformative experience for the participating youth, offering opportunities for growth, collaboration, and innovation.
The VBYLD 2026 serves as a testament to the power of youth leadership and the potential for positive change that lies within our young generations. As we move forward, it is essential that we continue to empower and support our youth, fostering an environment that nurtures their talents, ideas, and dreams.
