In a significant move towards agricultural transformation, 80 farmers from Lower Subansiri and East Siang districts recently participated in a training program on post-harvest management of commercial flowers. This initiative, organized by the district horticulture office, aims to boost the income of local farmers by enhancing the quality, shelf life, and marketability of their floral produce.

The technical session was led by Dr Bhavya Bhargav, a senior scientist from CSIR-IHBT, Himachal Pradesh. He shared his expertise on cultivation practices, crop nutrition, and post-harvest management techniques for various commercial flowers, including lilium, rose, marigold, gerbera, and others.

Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH) Mission Director Benjamin Pertin, PMUMurlidhar Murari, and DHO Hibu Dante also addressed the participants, emphasizing the importance of scientific post-harvest management for enhancing farmers' income through commercial floriculture.
