Celebrating Women-led Entrepreneurship in Arunachal Pradesh
The third Arunachal Saras-2026, a vibrant celebration of rural entrepreneurship and women-led self-help groups (SHGs), commenced at the DK Convention Centre in Itanagar on January 16.
Promoting Rural Livelihoods
Organized by the Arunachal Pradesh State Rural Livelihood Mission (ArSRLM), this year's Saras brought together women entrepreneurs from 25 districts of Arunachal Pradesh, along with participants from West Bengal, Nagaland, and Manipur. The event also featured catering units supported under the ArSRLM, known as Mother Kitchens, from various districts of Arunachal and Sikkim.
Encouraging Women Entrepreneurs
Rural Development & Panchayati Raj Minister Ojing Tasing, in his address, encouraged women SHGs to continue their remarkable journey in strengthening rural livelihoods. He assured them of greater support for future success.
Financial Assistance and Market Access
On the occasion, two women farmer-producer companies, Retusa WFPCL and Kenna WFPCL, were awarded financial assistance of Rs 357 lakh and Rs 364 lakh, respectively. Minister Tasing also inaugurated Arunima, a dedicated retail outlet showcasing SHG products from across Arunachal. The first store has been opened at the Hollongi airport, while the other has been launched in Itanagar.
Cultural Extravaganza
Beyond entrepreneurship, the festival promises a lively cultural programme. Visitors can enjoy K-pop dance competitions, cosplay contests, traditional dance performances, pet shows, and live performances by artists.
