Recent social media posts regarding the utilisation of Members of Parliament Local Area Development (MPLAD) Scheme funds in Manipur, while expressing civic concern, have been found to lack clarity and factual accuracy. The office of Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament Maharaja Sanajaoba has issued a clarification to set the record straight.

Number of Works Completed

Contrary to a social media post stating that only 45 works have been taken up under the MPLAD of the Rajya Sabha MP from Manipur, the office clarified that a total of 81 works have been initiated so far. Thirty-two of these works have already been completed, with utilisation certificates issued by the concerned District Rural Development Agency officials.

Works Completed Prior to the MPLAD Portal

The office explained that the status of 32 completed works is not reflected on the MPLAD portal because they were carried out prior to the introduction of the official portal. These works were executed under the earlier physical format system.

Utilisation of the MPLAD Portal

Following the launch of the MPLAD portal by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation in 2023-2024, the state began uploading works from March 2024. Since then, 49 works have been recommended online, with 18 of these works declared completed. The completion status of some works is yet to be updated.
