In a noteworthy development, the East Siang police apprehended two individuals and confiscated heroin worth approximately Rs 2 lakh during a naka check in Pasighat, Arunachal Pradesh. This incident highlights the ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in the region.

Naka Check and Arrest

Acting on a credible tip-off, the police set up a naka near the 2 Mile area and intercepted a car coming from Assam. The driver, attempting to evade the checkpoint, was forced to stop after the police discharged a round in the air as per standard procedure. During a thorough search of the vehicle, the police discovered 21.33 grams of heroin, three mobile phones, three used syringes, and Rs 16,880 in cash.

Accused and Seized Property

The accused have been identified as Deepak Panyang and Aliash Tanong Panyang, both residents of Gumin Nagar. The vehicle used in the crime was seized, and both individuals were arrested on the spot.

Legal Proceedings

A case has been registered at the Pasighat police station under Sections 21(b) and 25 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, along with Section 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
