The Arrival of Black-Necked Cranes in Arunachal Pradesh
Four black-necked cranes, a highly revered species of the Himalayan region, have made their winter home in the Chug Valley of West Kameng district, marking a significant event for the region.
A Growing Presence
This is not the first time black-necked cranes have visited Arunachal Pradesh. However, the arrival of four cranes, including three adults and one juvenile, is a noteworthy occurrence. A Second Chance for a Wounded Crane
Last winter, a female crane was severely injured by feral dogs. She was rescued and treated by Dr Tsering at the veterinary dispensary in Dirang. With the arrival of the four cranes, there is a possibility that this injured crane could be reunited with its partner.

The Divisional Forest Officer of the Bomdila Forest Division, Obang Tayeng, expressed happiness over the arrival of the cranes. The Range Forest Officer of Dirang, Lobsang Sunickjee, is closely monitoring the cranes to ensure their safety during their stay and prevent threats from feral dogs or human interference.
