The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has witnessed a significant increase in ticket applications for the upcoming 2026 Assembly elections. Notably, the Dhing constituency in Nagaon district has recorded the highest number of applications with 26 aspirants, followed by Chenga (17), Mandia (16), and Barchalla (14). On the other hand, constituencies such as Dotma, Kokrajhar, Abhayapuri, Baksa, Bhergaon, Udalguri, Amri, and Rongkhang have only received one application each.
Upper Assam's Participation
Contrary to speculation about a lack of interest from Upper Assam, the region has demonstrated a healthy turnout. Constituencies like Dhemaji, Dibrugarh, and Lakhimpur have received an average of six applications per constituency. The number of applicants in Jonai is seven, and both Lakhimpur and Dakuakhana have five each.

Preliminary analysis of 264 applications reveals a near-equal representation from the Hindu and Muslim communities, with 153 Hindu and 103 Muslim applicants. Additionally, the number of women applicants has significantly increased, with over 100 women aspirants having applied.
