The Election Commission of India Unveils ECINet: A Game-Changer for Elections
In a significant move towards digital transformation, the Election Commission of India (ECI) recently launched the Election Commission of India Network (ECINet), a comprehensive digital platform designed to streamline all election-related services and information. This development was announced at the India International Conference on Democracy and Election Management (IICDEM) 2026, held in New Delhi.
Enhancing Transparency and Public Trust
The Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), Gyanesh Kumar, emphasized that ECINet has been developed in accordance with the law and is available in 22 scheduled languages and English. Dr Sukhbir Singh Sandhu, an Election Commissioner (EC), highlighted that this platform enhances transparency, facilitates monitoring of functions, and enables quick decision-making and information dissemination. EC Dr Vivek Joshi added that the conference would offer EMBs an opportunity to learn from global practices and adopt technology and digital innovations.
Cybersecurity and Integration
Information Technology Director General, Dr Seema Khanna, underscored cybersecurity as a key pillar of ECINet. She explained that technology is no longer a support function but a strategic enabler, and the ECINet significantly enhances transparency, efficiency, credibility, and public trust in elections. Notably, ECINet integrates over 40 apps and portals of the Election Commission of India, providing a seamless electoral service platform for the world's largest democracy.

The ECINet's potential impact extends beyond New Delhi. In the North East region of India, where digital literacy and access to technology are growing, this platform could offer significant advantages in terms of citizen-centric electoral services and easy access to election-related information.
