In a significant stride towards gender equality, the District Administrations of Pherzawl and Churachandpur, Manipur, recently observed National Girl Child Day. This day, dedicated to the empowerment and protection of girls, marks a crucial step in fostering a safer, more inclusive, and equitable future for every girl in Northeast India.
Celebrating Girl Power in Pherzawl
In Pherzawl, the District Administration, in collaboration with the District Social Welfare Office and the District Programme Officer (ICDS), organized an event at the Pherzawl Public Ground. The event was held under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) initiative and aimed to promote gender equality and social responsibility.

In Churachandpur, the district administration celebrated National Girl Child Day at the DC's Conference Hall. The event featured a pledge to promote awareness about the rights, education, health, and welfare of girls.
Deputy Commissioner Dharun Kumar S emphasized the need for equal opportunities and treatment for women, extending to education, employment, and social participation. He also stressed the importance of women being able to pursue their aspirations freely within a safe and supportive environment.
Meritorious girl students were felicitated with certificates and gifts, while newly admitted MBBS students, including three IDPs, were also recognized.
