Transforming Tripura's Tourism Landscape: Union Minister's Visit

Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia's recent visit to Tripura marked a significant stride in the development of the state's tourism sector. Projects worth an impressive Rs 950 crore were either inaugurated or had their foundation stones laid during his three-day visit.

World-Class Tourism Destinations

One of the key initiatives announced by Scindia was the development of five major tourist destinations into world-class tourism destinations. These locations include the Mata Tripura Sundari temple, Neermahal and Ujjayanta palaces, Sepahijala wildlife sanctuary, the rock-cut caves of Chabimura, and 48 islands of Dumboor lake. The total investment for this project is Rs 450 crore.

Infrastructure Development

Scindia also highlighted the foundation stone laying for a cluster-based agarwood processing center at Uttar Fulbari under Kadamtala in North Tripura district, with an outlay of Rs 80 crore. This center is expected to boost the local agarwood industry.

Empowering Rural Communities

The minister also emphasized the inauguration of projects worth Rs 220 crore on the first day of his visit. These included road connectivity works and solar microgrid projects generating 750 units of power for 450 remote villages. These initiatives aim to empower rural communities by improving infrastructure and providing sustainable energy solutions.

Healthcare Infrastructure

Scindia visited the maternal and child healthcare center under construction at GB Pant Hospital and inspected the new building of Agartala Government Dental College. These projects, with investments of Rs 192 crore and Rs 200 crore respectively, are scheduled for completion by June 2027.

A Commitment to Tripura

Scindia asserted that the projects dedicated during his visit reflect the central government's commitment to Tripura under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

For the North East region and India as a whole, the development of Tripura's tourism sector holds immense potential. By attracting more tourists, the state can generate significant revenue, create employment opportunities, and showcase its rich cultural heritage.
