A Northeast Soldier's Bravery Shines on Republic Day
Arunachalee Naik Kadaohum Bellai, a son of the Northeast, has made his state and the nation proud by receiving the Sena Medal (Gallantry) during the 77th Republic Day celebration. His heroic actions in Operation Nadar, carried out in Jammu & Kashmir, have earned him this prestigious recognition.
The Operation Nadar: A Successful Mission
On 15 May, 2025, Bellai, then a sepoy with the 42 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) in Tral, was assigned the role of a leading guide for Operation Nadar. The operation, launched at 3 am, aimed to neutralize terrorists in the operational area. Under Bellai's leadership, the areas were successfully cordoned off, and three terrorists were neutralized without any casualties to the RR team.
The Journey of a Hero: From Tapang to the Indian Army
Born in Tapang village, Goiliang circle of Anjaw district, Bellai completed his 10th standard education from the Government Secondary School in Loiliang, Lohit district. He joined the Indian Army on 18 March, 2013, and underwent training at the Assam Regimental Centre, Shillong, Meghalaya. He was later posted to the 17th Assam Regiment and the 42 RR in Tral.
