Promoting Health and Awareness in North East India

In a commendable initiative, the Rotary Club of Imphal, Maamba, in collaboration with various organizations, recently organized a Mega Health Camp and Eye Test in Imphal, Manipur. This event, held on December 28, 2025, underscores the ongoing efforts to improve healthcare facilities and promote awareness about critical health issues in the North East region.

Organ Donation Awareness and Mega Health Camp

The highlight of the event was the Donate Organs, Save Lives awareness bicycle rally, which aimed to promote public awareness about organ donation. The rally, led by RIMS Director Professor G. Sunilkumar Sharma, culminated in a Mega Health Camp at Kakching Public School. The camp, organized annually by the Rotary Club of Imphal, offered free medical services to attendees and featured collaborations with Shija Hospital and Research Institute, Babina Diagnostic, R&R Occulus, and the Sena Athletes Organisation (SAO) Kakching.

Impact and Significance

Speaking on the occasion, Professor Sanjib Nepram emphasized the importance of organ donation and urged the public to consider it as a means to save lives. The event's broad outreach, made possible by the collaborative efforts of multiple organizations, is significant for the North East region, where access to quality healthcare remains a challenge.

Free Eye Test Camp

Simultaneously, a Free Eye Test Camp was organized at Panthoibi Lampak Community Hall. The camp, organized by Shinthangambi VLF Keirak under the Manipur Rural Livelihoods Mission (MSRLM) in collaboration with Chingkalen Optical, North AOC, provided free eye examinations to 50 patients. This initiative underscores the need for regular eye check-ups and the importance of accessible healthcare services for the underprivileged.

Relevance to North East India and India

Both events highlight the ongoing efforts to improve healthcare facilities and promote awareness about critical health issues in the North East region. These initiatives are crucial in addressing the unique health challenges faced by the region and in ensuring equitable access to quality healthcare for all citizens of India.

Looking Forward

The success of these initiatives underscores the importance of collaboration and community engagement in addressing healthcare challenges. As we move forward, it is essential that such initiatives continue to be supported and expanded to ensure that everyone in the North East region has access to quality healthcare services.
