Security Forces Disrupt Extortion Networks in Imphal
In a significant move to curb the rising menace of extortion, security forces in Imphal, Manipur, have busted a fund-raising wing of underground groups, arresting eight individuals involved in extortion networks across two valley districts. Arrested Cadres and Recruited Network
The arrestees, including a 63-year-old, were accused of recruiting cadres into underground groups and extorting various establishments such as oil pumps, showrooms, hotels, educational institutes, government officials, and pharmacies. The arrested cadres were associated with the proscribed People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak Progressive (PREPAK-PRO).
Recovered Evidence and Multiple Operations
Six extortionists associated with PREPAK-PRO were arrested from different locations under Nongpok Sekmai Police Station in Imphal East district. From their possession, the security forces recovered a DBBL gun, two mobile phones, and two SIM cards. In another operation, two extortionists belonging to the banned PREPAK-PRO group were apprehended.
