Analysis: The ASUS Zenbook Duo got a fantastic redesign for CES 2026

ASUS Zenbook Duo 2026: A Game-Changer for Dual-Screen Notebooks

ASUS Zenbook Duo 2026: A Revolution in Dual-Screen Notebooks

At CES 2026, ASUS unveiled the second-generation Zenbook Duo, a significant upgrade to the 2024 model that was already a standout in the dual-screen laptop market. This revamped device boasts improved design, enhanced screens, faster performance, and a larger battery, making it a compelling choice for consumers in North East India and beyond.

Design and Durability

The Zenbook Duo 2026 features ASUS' Ceraluminum treatment on the lid, bottom, and kickstand, enhancing its aesthetics while adding durability and scratch resistance. The magnetic latch system and Bluetooth connection for the detachable keyboard have also been improved, ensuring better reliability and charging efficiency.

New "Hideaway" Hinge

One of the most notable upgrades is ASUS' all-new "hideaway" hinge, which allows the system to unfold flat against a table and reduces the gap between the laptop's two 3K 144Hz Lumina Pro OLED displays to just 8.28 mm. This improvement makes the dual-screen experience even more seamless and appealing.

Performance and Connectivity

Under the hood, the Zenbook Duo 2026 is powered by either an Intel Core Ultra 7 355 or Ultra 9 386H chip with up to 32GB of RAM and 2TB of storage. The device also features a larger 99Whr battery, improved onboard graphics from Intel's latest integrated Arc GPU, and a higher TDP of 45 watts, resulting in faster performance.

Connectivity and Stylus Support

Connectivity remains excellent, with Wi-Fi 7, two USB-C with Thunderbolt 4, a USB-A 3.2 Gen 2 connector, and a full-size HDMI 2.1 jack. The Zenbook Duo also supports stylus input via the ASUS Pen 3.0, making it an attractive option for artists.

Compact and Travel-Friendly

Despite the significant battery upgrade and improved performance, the overall footprint of the second-gen Zenbook Duo is five percent smaller than its predecessor, making it more compact without sacrificing on weight or thinness.

Relevance to North East India and India at Large

The Zenbook Duo 2026's compact design, improved performance, and dual-screen functionality make it an appealing choice for professionals and creatives in North East India, where the demand for versatile and powerful laptops is growing. Moreover, its dual-screen setup could potentially bridge the gap between desktop and laptop computing, offering a more immersive and productive experience for users across India.

Looking Forward

The Zenbook Duo 2026 is shaping up to be a significant improvement over its predecessor, offering a more seamless dual-screen experience, faster performance, and improved design. Pricing and release date details have yet to be announced, so we'll have to wait and see if this device will live up to the hype when it hits the market later this year.
