Double Fine's Unique Take on Gaming: Kiln, the Pottery Party Brawler

In the vibrant world of indie game development, Double Fine has made a name for itself with its unique and creative titles. The studio, known for games like Psychonauts and Broken Age, is gearing up for another intriguing release Kiln, an online multiplayer pottery party brawler.

Crafting and Destruction: A Unique Gameplay Dynamic

Kiln offers a unique blend of creativity and competition. Players can design their own ceramic vessels, ranging from delicate saucers to massive vats, mimicking the real-life pottery-making process. Decorative options, such as glazes and stickers, allow for personalization of these creations.

The Art of Destruction: Quench Mode

Once the pottery creation is complete, the fun shifts to destruction. In the game mode showcased during the Developer Direct, Quench, teams compete in capture-the-flag-style matches. The objective is to carry water in the vessels to the enemy's kiln and extinguish its flames before opponents can do the same to yours. The various vessel types have unique attacks for shattering enemy ceramics, adding a strategic element to team composition.

Spring 2026 Release and Availability

Kiln is set to launch in spring 2026 and will be available on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and Steam. Additionally, it will be accessible through Xbox programs such as Game Pass Ultimate and Xbox Cloud Gaming.

Kiln's Connection to the North East and India

The North East region of India boasts a rich tradition of pottery, with various tribes and communities practicing this art form for centuries. Kiln's focus on pottery could spark interest in this ancient craft among gamers in the region, potentially leading to increased appreciation and support for local pottery artisans.

A Fresh Perspective in Gaming

As Double Fine continues to push the boundaries of what games can be, Kiln represents an exciting new direction for the studio. With its unique blend of crafting and destruction, Kiln promises to offer a fresh and engaging gaming experience for players worldwide.
